The Queen of Busoga Kingdom Her Royal Highness Jovia Mutesi is set to address the Kingdoms subjects since her coming to the palace. Mutesi, who was on November 18, 2023, during a historic Busoga royal wedding, shall Friday February 23, 2024 say a word to children of the soil and the world at large.

In an anticipated colourful event to be organized at the Igenge palace in Bugembe Jinja city, invited guests are currently preparing their African attires, including kanzu and gomesi, to attend the royal function.

Busoga today has learnt that the Inhebantu shall be elaborating on the different projects aiming to transform the regions socio-economic development. The queen comes to mother Busoga, a region with extreme poverty, school dropout, and early pregnancies, among others.

The kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV, while opening the 2024 Busoga lukiiko last Saturday, emphasized that efforts are underway to curb the regions core challenges of poverty, diseases and ignorance. He noted the importance of preaching togetherness for collective efforts.

The Majesty informed the Lukiiko that for the regions development, memorandums of understanding are being signed between the kingdom and development partners. He added that the kingdom’s emphasis for the year 2024 is promoting talents of the young people through sports such as football, rugby, and bicycle racing, among others.

According to Hussein Salim Magumba, the chairperson of Busoga Kingdom Youth Council, the Inhebantu in her address should emphasize the education of the girl child which has reined in the region after immoralities of defilements and rape by lustful men.

“We hope that the challenges of the child shall be addressed, and school dropouts will be solved. we also expect our Mama to talk about marriage effectiveness, guiding the young female on how marriage can be prepared for,” said Magumba.
