The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula IV, has applauded the Turkish Cooperation and Cordination Agency (TIKA) for the vital activities carriedout in Busoga sub-region. TIKA is a Turkish organisation based in Uganda to undertake charity works in Busoga and across the country.
During a royal iftar dinner organized at the civil service college in Jinja City on Saturday, April 6, King Nadiope expressed pleasure for the establishment of the important organisation and its operations in his area of jurisdiction. The dinner was funded by the TIKA to celebrate the holly month with Busoga Muslims.
The colorful executive that was on invitation, featured several important individuals including the Kyabazinga of Busoga, Turkish ambassador to Uganda, First deputy prime minister Rebecca Kadaga, Mufti Ramathan Mubajje, and Busoga Kingdom prime minister, Dr Joseph Muvawala.
Others included the heads of the moslem community in lead by the Dr Muhammad Lubega Kisambira, the National chairman of the Uganda Muslim Spreme Council (UMSC), Busgoa regional khad, Dr Muhammad Bowa, officials from Busoga Kingdom and other subjects.
In his remarks, his Majesty Gabula emphasised responsibility and integrity among believers of the moslem faith.
“When we come together like this, it is a sign of unity and as moslem let us exhibit responsibility and integrity in this holly month,” said Kyabazinga before giving praises to TIKA.
TIKA has constructed several mosques, supporting moslem activities, and other vulnerable communities. According to the minister for Eastern African Community Affairs, Rebecca Kadaga, TIKA supported the construction of Nawanyago Technical Institute in addition to the relief aid given to the blind community in Luubu, Mayuge district.
“The bilateral relationship between Uganda and Turkish government is growing and we must maintain it,” said Kadaga who, however, revealed that her tours of launching tourism sites in the region is yielding with several foreign countries pledging to visit Busoga.
Fatih Ak, the Turkish ambassador to Uganda, commended the King of Busoga and the UMSC for the hospitality and togetherness, admitting their activities to take place. He said Turkey is collaborating with Uganda, specifically Busoga Kingdom, to steer development and transformation of the region.
“We are not doing this because of Ramathan. We are going to do it, and we have done it even before the holly months,” said ambassador.
However, the Mufti hailed the Kamuli woman member of Parliament, Kadaga for intervening the land dispute between UMSC and Jinja Regional Referral Hospital, calling on the Busoga moslem community to remain calm as the matter undergoes lawful mediations.
