JINJA – Eastern Comedy Night, one of the leading Comedy shows in the country, is back with a bang and ready to thrill Jinja residents with rib-cracking laughter once again.

The first edition of the show took place on Thursday night and for beginners, creativity, consistence and experience is what defined the show at Pitstop lounge.

Titled “Segha Ensaya” – Night of laughters, the comedy outfit did not just fill up Pitstop but left the audience in stitches with their skits that nearly had people’s ribs broken since they couldn’t hold the sensation of laughter that night.

The surprise addition of Madrat and Chiko was the highlight of the show as the duo sent fans into a frenzy with their well-blended jokes.

Those who were in attendance can testify that Bobi and Nilo and Jinja- based comedian Kamada Embuzi made it an even more interesting show.

Revelers started trickling into the venue as early as 5pm, three hours earlier to the start of the show.
It should be noted that a show of this nature runs out in Kampala called comedy store files hosted by the ‘Father of Comedy’ Alex Muhangi every Wednesday of the week.

“We want to start doing this every Thursday. We want to do it the Kampala way. Bring in different artistes to work along aside the different comedians. People in Jinja would love to look out for this than burn fuel driving to Kampala and back,” Anne Kagere Nyakato, the Pitstop lounge director said.

She said she does not look at it as a competition with the comedy store hosted by Muhangi in Kampala and expressed willingness to work with the later to transform Ugandan comedy.

“We are not competing with Comedy Store. In fact we are looking forward to working with Muhangi to boost eastern region and we plan to invite him to our shows,” she said.

Nyakato urged Jinjans to embrace the show and trickle in every Thursday from 7pm till late in the night to kill their stress.

The Jinjans were once treated to a night of laughter every Friday at this same spot when it was called “Laughters” before the corona pandemic descended and put everything to a halt. The show used to attract revelers from Jinja and the surrounding areas who would throng the spot in droves to kill stress and usher in the weekend.

The spot has since been taken over by a new management and renamed Pitstop lounge.

“Our customers have asked for this for a long time and we are delivering it to them. I am optimistic they will be treated to a show of laughters every Thursday,” Richard Mugalya, a bar man at the popular spot, said.

In an interview with Busoga Today, Herbert Mugeda, a resident of Kakira , was all in praise of the show.
“ For people who want to hear new and better jokes and shade off some stress, Pitstop is the place to be every Thursday,” Mugeda said.

The director of Stone Magic and event’s organizer, Nandege yusuf aka Susu Magic, said he wants to give Jinjans and the entire Eeastern region something they have been looking for in Kampala.

“We are creating ease for those who have been looking out for comedy nights in Kampala. We shall be mixing up comedians from Kampala and Jinja as we build the eastern region,” Susu Magic said.

“We want people to go back to work every Friday well refreshed and help reduce on suicidal thoughts in people’s mind by treating them to a night of laughter,” he added.

Tickets will be going for Shs10,000 ordinary, Shs20,000 VIP and a table served with drinks will go for Shs300,000 . A couple will part with Shs15,000 to laugh together and rekindle their relationship.
