As Christians and Muslims conclude their respective holy seasons of Lent and Ramadan, the youth of Luuka district, under the banner of Luuka Youth Development Agenda (LUYODA), have embarked on a noble initiative to assist those in need during the fasting period.
In a heartfelt gesture, the youths of LUYODA have donated essential supplies to the needy in Luuka Town council, demonstrating their commitment to supporting the community during these challenging times. Basic necessities such as posho, beans, soap, sugar, cooking oil, and paraffin were distributed to disabled individuals, while school requirements including stationery sets, books, pens, and pencils were provided to students.
Additionally, the compassionate youths extended their outreach to Kiyunga Health Center IV, where they distributed essential items such as Maama kits, soap, and sugar to patients in need. Katende Brian, the Chief Executive Officer of LUYODA and youth chairperson in Luuka Town council, emphasized the importance of cooperation among leaders and well-wishers to effectively support those in need within the community.
Caroline Nambi, the marketing officer of LUYODA, expressed concern over the neglect faced by children with disabilities, urging parents to prioritize their care and well-being. She emphasized the valuable contributions that disabled individuals can make to society and called for greater inclusivity and support.
Mavin Kirunda, LUYODA coordinator, emphasized the importance of youth collaboration in self-development and community advancement. Similarly, Emmanuel Muwanguzi, a member of the organization, urged parents to provide equal attention and care to both disabled and non-disabled children, highlighting the significance of inclusivity and equality in parenting.
