Guuga Masolo Yaaya Gidudu, cultural leader of Inzu Ya Bamasaba in Bugisu Kingdom, is calling for calmness among the subjects and other stakeholders responsible for transformation of the traditional area. The cultural influencer issues the calls amidst plans of official installation of the rightful Umukuka of Bugisu after disputes amongst the different parties eyeing for the cultural leadership.
Didudu’s appeal was disseminated by Mr Gumali Guwanga, the prime minister of Inzu Ya Masaba, while addressing reporters at his office on Friday in Mbale city
He is disappointed with some individuals spreading ills about the Bamasaba culture, citing one Richard Wanbedde who castigated the leadership of the institution’s leadership when he was recently hosted at a local radio station. Inzu Ya Masaba has, since November 2020, faced several challenges surrounding cultural leadership.
“The matter of kingship in Masaba land is still debatable and a number of cases have been filed in Mbale high court for redress and prayers.Guuga Masolo Yaaya Gidudu is calling upon all Bamasaba and Banambale to rest calm, assured of success and has encouraged everybody to be hard working to make our families survive,” said Mr Guwanga.
The prime minister accuses Mr Wambedde of being a son of Sebei, which is very different from the Bamasaba land. He described Wambedde’s group as intruders misleading Bamasaba, who could independently solve their traditional challenges.
“Sebei people circumcise girls, Bamasaba circumcise boys. This is the greatest difference between the two cultures and this is the line of separation Our letter addressed to elder Wagabyalile and Mudoma about our request to publish their descendant ship and circumcision still stands to be responded to through TV or radios,” said the prime minister.
He adder that the government of Uganda that restored kingdoms in Uganda is at the forefront to ensure peace and security of all people. He, therefore, elaborated that the disturbing matter of cultural disorder shall be assessed, and the truth shall be availed to by court of law.
It is important to note that the Mbale High Court is set to issue the ruling of the legitimate king of Bamasaba in May this year.
