Farmers and sugarcane dealers in the Busoga sub-region are miserably crying over the deduction of the cane price. Reports from the sugar mills indicate that a tone now is valued for shs143,000. Madhvani sugar factory is the latest to deduct the price after Mayuge, Kaliro, and Kamuli factories. These have reportedly disappointed farmers after the fluctuation rapidly reduced from shs165,000 to shs143,000 per tone. Leaders, locals, and stakeholders in Jinja district celebrated the world environment day with planting trees aiming to promote the preservation of the environment. Over 600 fruit trees were planted along Muguluka-Buyengo road, a 10km distance to Buyengo town council headquarters. Girl for Climate Action, a Jinja based nonprofit organization advocating for climate justice, spearheaded the celebrations with the main event organized in Kamwokya. Kamuli: A disturbing report from Kamuli district indicates the arrest of Mr Mohammed Jingo, a 43-year-old businessman, for reportedly defiling a 13-year-old girl. Jingo who resides in Mbulamuti Cell, Mbulamuti ward in Mbulamuti Town Council, Kamuli district, Jengo is said to have seduced the minor, who is a P.5 learner at Busota Primary School. MAYUGE: WaterAid, a nonprofit organization undertaking the provision of clean water, is in Busoga to implement its objectives. The organization is using motorized borehole systems to supply and uplift water access in the Busoga subregion and beyond. In the latest projects, the organization extended services to Mayuge district where a new motorized borehole system was launched.
