WAKISO: The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has announced that the release of Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results that had been scheduled for Friday, January, 20, has been postponed. A source intimated to this website that the results will be released next Friday, January 27.

The postponement has further increased anxiety among the candidates and parents who are eager to know how they performed.

Hanifah Nakalema, a charcoal seller and mother to a candidate only identified as Janat, said she can’t wait to see how her daughter performed.

“I know my daughter will excel but I don’t know whether I will get money to take her to secondary school,” Nakalema said.

The UNEB publicist Jennifer Kalule told journalist this morning that PLE results cannot be released tomorrow (Friday) because the examination body has not yet briefed the minister.

“Before the results are released, UNEB briefs the Minister of Education and Sports which has not yet been done as of today,” Ms Kalule said.

A total of 832,810 pupils sat for last year’s Primary Leaving Examinations at 14,153 examination centers across the country.
