The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV, has revealed that he will take key interest in development projects of Busoga College Mwiri, promote talent and also encourage other people, mainly of influence, to support the school.

Kyabazinga made the remarks while officiating at The Mwiri League Match Day 5 at Hilltop gardens in Naguru.

The Kyabazinga, an old boy of the school, was hosted by Atletico Muniga FC featuring the class of 2002-2007 where the Kyabazinga belongs.

Clad in his Gabula 4 Muniga team jersey, the Kyabazinga arrived at the venue at 3:00pm and was welcomed by Busoga Kingdom’s Chief of Protocol who is also the Iganga district Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC)Andrew Ntange.

While at the pitch, The Kyabazinga wore a Captain’s armband for his team and later started the game between Atletico Muniga and Mpala teams by serving the ball to his teammate while in the centre.

He later left the pitch and handed over the Captain’s armband to Samson Kakoma Kakosi, the Captain and manager of team Atletico Muniga, and proceeded to sit in his tent.

A total of 18 teams participated in several games on Match Day 5 but the 4pm game between Muniga and Mpala that the Kyabazinga kicked off was the highlight of the day and ended in a 1-1 draw.

In his speech, the Kyabazinga commended all sponsors of the league as read out by the league chairperson Arthur Abaliwano. He was also excited to see different Old Boys from different cohorts at the event.

Abaliwano said the goal for season 3 league is to see that they construct a modern Cricket Oval at Busoga College Mwiri.

He said that a total of 18 teams participated in the league, adding that 10 per cent of the total subscription and what they receive from sponsors will go towards that goal.

He added that by the end of this year, Mwiri will have a modern Cricket Oval befitting of 19-time year Cricket champions.

Later, OBs enjoyed drinks and eats plus entertainment from local artistes like Vampino, Vinka and Martha Mukisa.
