With the primary goal of promoting emerging talents in Busoga, the Jinja Purple Party on August 31, 2024, at Dam Waters, is set to be a game changer for the region’s entertainment industry.
The Purple Party management, in partnership with Next Media Uganda, has initiated a program that invites upcoming artists to TV shows for interviews and plays their songs on various platforms to showcase their work to the world.
“But it’s not necessarily about making money from the Purple Parties,” said Douglas Lwanga, CEO of Purple Party Uganda.
In addition to the Purple Party, Douglas has introduced the “Creative Arts Conference,” where they train emerging artists in branding, marketing, communication skills, music promotion, and how to handle interviews.
“And in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage, this will be made possible in the Busoga Kingdom,” he said.
He encouraged people not only to attend the party but also to take the time to visit various tourist sites in Busoga, such as the Source of the Nile, Kagulu Rock, and Busowoko Falls, among others.
Mr. Douglas, in particular, thanked all the sponsors, including MTN as the ticketing partner for the Jinja Purple Party 2024, and the Busoga Kingdom for their hospitality.
He also assured attendees of a high level of security at the venue, as the Uganda Police will be in control. Gates will officially open at 3:00 PM, and everyone will be checked at the entrance, so attendees are advised not to carry items like knives.
Owek. Hellen Namutamba, Minister for Tourism and Heritage of the Busoga Kingdom, thanked Mr. Douglas Lwanga for bringing the Purple Party back to Jinja after nearly five years and extended her gratitude to the sponsoring partners, including MTN.
She noted that as the Ministry of Tourism and Heritage of Busoga, entertainment is their top priority, so when someone like Lwanga initiates efforts to promote the region’s entertainment industry, the kingdom must support it.
She added that the Purple Skills Clinic Foundation is highly sought after by upcoming artists in Busoga because it provides exactly what is needed to develop young talents.
She also called upon kickboxers, tailors, wrestlers, and others to take advantage of this opportunity to learn how to work with their managers, grow their brands, and improve production skills.
