Jinja: Mr. Godfrey Sekitoleko, the principal of Horizon International School in Jinja city, says the institution focuses on the holistic development of students through extracurricular programs, cultural events, and community service projects that provide students with opportunities to explore their interests, develop leadership skills, and contribute positively to society.

“These experiences are integral to our mission of fostering well-rounded individuals who are not only academically proficient but also socially responsible and empathetic,” he explains.

Located in Walukuba, Jinja City Southern Division, the school is set to celebrate 10 years of providing education services to the Ugandan community and surrounding countries. The anticipated festival, slated for September 7, 2024, at the school campus, will be held under the theme: “Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future.”

Offering Cambridge education, Horizon not only provides kindergarten but also primary and secondary education up to the Advanced level.

“Over the past decade, our school has been a cornerstone of academic excellence and a nurturing environment for students from all walks of life. This celebration is not just a reflection on the years gone by but also a testament to the shared vision and dedication that have propelled us to where we are today,” stated Mr. Sekitoleko.

The principal also shares that in their ten-year journey, they embarked on a mission to provide an internationally recognized standard of education to students in the Busoga region. The Cambridge curriculum, with its emphasis on critical thinking, global perspectives, and a rigorous academic framework, has been instrumental in shaping Horizon’s educational philosophy.

He elaborates on the importance of their commitment to the principles of Cambridge education, which he says has not only enhanced the learning experience but also equipped students with the skills necessary to excel in an increasingly interconnected world.

As a milestone, the school head said, “We have celebrated academic successes, from outstanding exam results to impressive university placements. More importantly, we have witnessed our students grow into thoughtful, compassionate individuals who are well-prepared to face the challenges of the future.”

He attributes the accomplishments to the hard work and dedication of the highly capable staff, whose unwavering commitment to excellence has been the backbone of the school’s success.

He further praised the school community, comprising students, parents, teachers, and others, whom he says have been instrumental in creating a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere that fosters both academic and personal growth.

“Parents have been our partners in education, actively engaging in their children’s learning journey and supporting our school’s initiatives. Our teachers have not only delivered high-quality education but have also served as mentors and role models, inspiring students to reach their highest potential. The collaborative spirit that exists within our community has been a driving force in achieving our shared goals,” he said.

He added, “As we celebrate this significant milestone, it is important to acknowledge the journey that has brought us here. We have faced challenges, navigated changes, and adapted to new educational trends. Each challenge has strengthened our resolve and enriched our experience. Our resilience and adaptability are a testament to the strength of our community and our shared commitment to providing the best possible education for our students.”

Looking to the future, Mr. Sekitoleko emphasized that the school envisions continued investment in modern education and the enhancement of facilities to provide an even richer learning experience.
