IGANGA- A raging fire has gutted Iganga High School boy’s dormitory destroying property worth millions of shillings, this website has learnt.
By press time, efforts were still ongoing to save students’ property. The cause of the fire is not yet established.
The school headmaster Godfrey Waiswa said the school authorities will work closely with the police to establish the cause of the fire that started at about 7:15PM on Sunday. He said there is no cause for alarm, adding that no life has been lost in the fire.
Fire incidents are becoming rampant in the recent past. Less than a week ago, fire gutted Mbarara Secondary School dormitory, named after Nyerere, destroying students’ mattresses, clothes and scholastic materials.
Over 20 fire incidents in schools have been reported since the beginning of the year and scores of students have lost life.
A police preliminary report on these fires recently indicated that most of them have been deliberately set by unknown people.
