JINJA: Police in Jinja have detained a one Shakira Naigaga on allegations of trafficking three minors. The 20-year-old Naigaga is a resident of Busia district though sometimes stays in Nansana, Kampala.

It is reported that the suspect went to Namwendwa town in Kamuli district and seduced three juveniles; Rosemary Natasha, Immaculate Naigaga and Viola Nantabo. These were promised to be given juicy jobs in the Kenya capital, Nairobi.

Kiira region police spokesperson, ASP James Mubi, confirmed the development, saying Naigaga was arrested from Jinja taxi park where police intercepted her courtesy of police CCTV cameras.

“She is jobless but promised the innocent girls to be manager, Chief Executive officer jobs. We are examining her because she may be having some other related cases, and if found out then we shall start from there,” says Mubi.

The officer says that the suspect is currently detained at Jinja Central Police station (CPS) as investigations into the matter are underway.

Mubi, however, urged parents to always be vigilant to their children instead of allowing them to carry on with their unclear programs of visiting boyfriends, clubs among others. He says parents should fit in the digital era to easily monitor children from such practices.

“These issues of lamenting and seeking help from police will not work. Those are your children whom you need to talk to as parents. Children and parents shouldn’t be separated from each other,” Mubi added.

According to Mubi, parents neglecting their children shall be arrested and be taken to courts of law. He says that some parents have tendencies of deliberately not taking children to school and asked women whose children were abandoned by the fathers to report to police.

“Every parent will be arrested and prosecuted. We shall not just look at you when you abandoned your children and they are not going to school,” Mubi noted.
