BUL FC secured a dramatic 2-1 victory over Lugazi FC at Najjembe, thanks to Isaac Wagoina’s brace, including a last-minute winner.
Wagoina, who had been a surprise starter, gave BUL the lead in the 22nd minute after Lugazi’s Richard Ayiko failed to clear a cross from Ibrahim Orit. Wagoina seized the chance and scored from close range.
Lugazi responded in the 37th minute with a free-kick from Abdul Kalanzi that slipped past BUL goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa, leveling the score at 1-1. Despite a few more chances from both teams, including a crucial save by Lugazi goalkeeper Fahad Emuran to deny Fahad Bayo, the game seemed headed for a draw.
But in stoppage time, Wagoina struck again. Jerome Kirya’s free-kick was met by a header from Najib Fessali, which found Wagoina in the perfect position to tap the ball into the net, giving BUL the win.
This victory ended a five-match winless streak for BUL, lifting them to seventh place with 19 points. It also eased the pressure on head coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko. Meanwhile, Lugazi remains in 13th place, just three points above the relegation zone.
