BUL FC continued their fine form in the second round of the Uganda Premier League with a 2-1 away win over KCCA FC on Saturday at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.
The match was not just about three points — it marked the beginning of a new chapter for KCCA after parting ways with head coach Abdallah Mubiru. But things didn’t start as hoped. Despite playing under interim coach Jackson Magera, the Kasasiro Boys couldn’t stop a determined BUL side that showed discipline and composure.
BUL took the lead in the 29th minute through Joel Kiirya, who capitalized on a mistake from KCCA goalkeeper Mustafa Mugolofa. In the second half, Magera tried to turn things around by bringing on Ashraf Mugume and switching tactics, but BUL remained strong at the back.
Karim Ndugwa doubled BUL’s lead in the 84th minute after good work by substitute Isaac Musiima. KCCA kept pushing and managed a consolation goal through Mugume in the dying seconds of the match, but it was too little, too late.
Despite a better second-half performance, KCCA couldn’t find their rhythm early enough. Their back-to-back defeats raise questions as they adjust to life without Mubiru.
With seven games left, BUL stay 3rd on the log with 42 points, while KCCA sit 6th on 34 points.
Next up, BUL face Police FC at home as they continue their push for a strong finish. KCCA, still searching for stability, travel to Nakivubo to face URA.
