Jinja: Police in Jinja District have arrested and detained John Ssabagabo, 20, and Patrick Obbo, 40, both employees of Wolves Security Company, in connection with a deadly attack that left one person dead at an MTN Service Center in Buwenge Town Council, Jinja District.

On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at around 1 a.m., two assailants, who have not yet been identified, attacked and shot Calvin Abia, a private security guard attached to Ultimate Security Limited.

According to the police, the attackers opened fire on Abia after he had left his assigned post at EV Assets Management Company Limited to check on his colleagues, who were being encircled by the assailants at the MTN Service Center.

“At the time of his death, he had left his post and gone to check on his colleague, John Ssabagabo, at the MTN Service Center. They had previously worked together at Wolves Security Group Limited in Jinja City,” said SP James Mubi, the Kiira Regional Police Spokesperson.

“In the course of this meeting, the suspected assailants opened fire, and Calvin Abia was killed instantly,” Mubi added.

The deceased was shot in the head, leading to his immediate death. His lifeless body was taken to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.

A police sniffer dog was brought to the scene, and one fired cartridge case was recovered. It will be submitted for forensic analysis, according to the police.

Mubi further noted that investigations are ongoing, with prosecutors guiding the process to arrest the culprits and recover the suspected SAR rifle used in the attack.

The police are appealing to the public for any information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects.

“The information shared will be treated with the utmost confidentiality,” Mubi emphasized.
