The residents of Buyoboya Village in Bulange Sub-county, Namutumba District, were left in shock and misery on Tuesday after four people were burned to death in a house fire during Monday night.

The deceased include Mukisa Mukulu, 25, his wife Annet Namagunga, 30, and two children related to Annet, named Judith, 7, and Sylvia, 5, who are believed to be her sister’s children. The tragic incident occurred in the middle of the night when a neighbor, Yonaka Mukose Ngora, noticed something burning. By the time neighbors arrived to help, they found the house completely engulfed in flames, and all four occupants had already been reduced to ashes.

The LC1 Chairman of Buyoboya, Fred Mulondo, confirmed the incident and explained that it may have been linked to a domestic dispute. It is alleged that Annet Namagunga had previously been married to another man in Bunyanga Bunyole, Kisimu Village, before she started living with Mukisa two years ago. The couple had no children together. Rumors suggest a possible conflict between Mukisa and Annet’s former partner, which may have contributed to the tragedy.

John Bosco Mubiito, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Namutumba, also visited the scene and assured the community that the culprits would be identified. He promised that investigations would be conducted thoroughly.

The police, led by the District Police Commander (DPC), arrived at the scene, carried out initial investigations, and later transported the bodies to Iganga Hospital mortuary for postmortem. The remains were then handed over to the relatives for burial, while further investigations are ongoing to uncover the cause of this horrific incident.
