The family was returning from a visit to Kaliro Kasololwe and was on their way back to their home in Kibundera Ward, Namagera Town Council, Jinja District.
Eyewitnesses reported that the incident occurred at the junction of Lambala Centre. Kanolo John, a local resident, shared his grief, stating that he was deeply saddened by the tragic event.
Mr. Nagaya Jali, Chairperson of the Boda Boda Association in Luuka, who was present at the scene, urged boda boda riders to exercise more caution, especially during this season when students and pupils are returning to school. He emphasized that many drivers, both of vehicles and motorcycles, are stressed about school fees, which may lead to reckless driving. He stressed the importance of avoiding overspeeding, overloading, and ensuring the use of proper protective gear while on the road.
Mr. Nagaya Jali also called on truck drivers to reduce their excessive speeds, noting that the road is frequently used by many people. He raised concerns about truckers exceeding the regulated weight limits, which could be a major factor contributing to the loss of control.
Additionally, Mr. Nagaya urged the traffic police to pay closer attention to truck drivers, mentioning that many of them use drugs before getting on the road, which can impair their judgment and contribute to accidents.
Affande Amateko Proscovia, the Officer in Charge of Traffic in Luuka, confirmed the incident and advised all drivers, both motorcycle riders and vehicle operators, to adhere to road rules and regulations in order to reduce accidents. She added that the investigation is ongoing, and an official statement will be issued soon.
