    Rampant cattle theft worries Butaleja residents

    Cases of cattle theft have increased in Butaleja district.

    NATIONAL: Cattle theft has increased in Butaleja district, causing alarm among cattle keepers in the district.

    Speaking to Busoga Today recently, Adonia Mafumo, the deputy RDC of Butaleja, said he received numerous complaints from the public about cattle theft in the last one week despite the existence of a the district.

    Mafumo says they have registered at least six cases of cattle theft in the areas of: Nawanjofu, Busaba, Mazimasa and Himutu sub-counties.

    He further revealed that three suspects have been arrested to help police in investigations and urged the public to report such cases to the authorities.

    Two years ago, cattle theft intensified in Butaleja district and made some people to doubt the work of Police. The security committee of the district shortly declared a defeat to the thieves until last week when the vice bounced back and with vengeance.
