Jinja: As part of his ongoing nationwide Parish Development Model (PDM) tour, President Yoweri Museveni is set to visit the Busoga Sub-region from January 22 to 25, 2025, the State House confirmed on Tuesday.
During his four-day visit, President Museveni will commission several key projects, including the Presidential Skilling Hub, the Abyssinia Steel Factory, and the new Tembo Steel Factory in Iganga. These initiatives are expected to boost industrialization, create jobs, and enhance economic activity in the sub-region.
“The Presidential Press Unit (PPU) informs the general public that His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda will resume his nationwide Parish Development Model (PDM) performance assessment tour in the Busoga Sub-region starting on Wednesday, January 22, and ending on Saturday, January 25, 2025,” a PPU media release stated.
The President will also engage with farmers, local leaders, and the community, listening to their concerns and sharing his vision for the region’s development. He will address a public gathering at Lwanda Primary School and meet with leaders from the Busoga Sub-region to discuss strategies for regional development.
“On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, he will visit farmers in Namutumba, Luuka, and Jinja districts. On Thursday, January 23, 2025, he will commission the Presidential Skilling Hub, address a public gathering at Lwanda Primary School, meet with Busoga Sub-region leaders at the Mayuge District headquarters, and later in the evening hold a live interaction with the media,” reads the PPU release.
The Fountain of Honor will then, on Friday, January 24, 2025, commission the Abyssinia Steel Factory and proceed to Kamuli district to address a public rally at the Kamuli Youth Center. The tour will be concluded on Saturday, January 25, 2025, with the President launching the new Tembo Steel Factory in Iganga before holding a boda boda mega rally at Iganga High School.
The Parish Development Model is a flagship government program aimed at uplifting Ugandans from subsistence farming to commercial production. The initiative has already shown promising results in other parts of the country, and the President’s visit is expected to inspire greater community participation and strengthen local development efforts.
