WAKISO: Deborah Birungi, a Hotel Management student at the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (UHTTI), has launched two books, ‘The love of Patience’ and ‘The Precious Dream’ at a glamorous event held at Fire Deliverance Church in Nansana, Wakiso district on Sunday.

At the launch, UHTTI Principal Richard Kawere who graced the event as chief guest, described Birungi as a resilient person and an inspiration to many young people.

“Most of us hold dreams but sometimes we do not realise them. Deborah has enumerated how you as a young person can chase and live your dream,” Mr Kawere said.

He said the Institute he leads will support Birungi to ensure that her passion for writing doesn’t die.
Mr Kawere hailed Birungi as a living testimony of the Biblical Deborah who was a judge and poet.

Birungi’s father Cosma Munda said his daughter is an obedient and intelligent child who he named named ‘Birungi’ to reflect the power of Jesus and said he is not surprised that good things are coming out of her at a young age.

“If I had given birth to only four children, I would have missed Deborah who is a very enterprising child,” Munda said.

In a related development, the lead pastor of Fire Deliverance Church, Bishop Henry Kintu, thanked Birungi for sticking to her dream and encouraged young people to follow her example.

“Deborah has inspired me to write and next year I will surely embark on writing a book,” Bishop Kintu said.
In her speech, Birungi said she read the works of Martin Luther King and that is where she derived her passion for writing.

“I read the literature of Martin Luther King and that is when I decided that the world will one day read about me,” a jovial Birungi said, as she thanked people who had turned up in droves to witness the launch of her books.
