Authorities in Luuka district have initiated a thorough investigation into a shocking case of aggravated robbery, where perpetrators made off with a substantial sum of money. The incident, which occurred in Bugoba village, Budondo parish, Bukanga Sub-County, has left the community reeling from the brazen attack.

According to reports from Busoga North police spokesperson ASP Michael Kasadha, the victim, 39-year-old sugarcane businessman Lwokyaza Moses, along with his father Kudaga Francis, fell prey to a group of armed assailants on the night of February 29th, 2024. Under the cover of darkness, five unidentified individuals, three of whom were clad in army attire, forcibly entered the homes of Lwokyaza and his father.

In a harrowing ordeal, the assailants subjected the victims to physical assault and menacing threats, instilling fear as they ransacked the premises. The perpetrators, brandishing weapons and wielding violence, made off with a staggering total of Shs 91.5 million from Lwokyaza and an additional Ushs 6.8 million from his father, totaling approximately Ushs 98 million in stolen funds.

“The severity of the incident cannot be understated,” remarked ASP Michael Kasadha in an interview with our correspondent, Umar Ntogona. “The victims endured a terrifying assault, both physically and emotionally, as they were subjected to violence and coercion during the robbery.”

In response to the distressing incident, a dedicated team of detectives swiftly descended upon the scene, scouring for clues and gathering evidence to aid in the pursuit of justice. Vital exhibits of evidential value were recovered, providing crucial leads in the ongoing investigation.

“Our priority is to ensure the swift apprehension of the suspects responsible for this reprehensible act,” emphasized ASP Michael Kasadha. “We are committed to exhausting every avenue of inquiry and leveraging all available resources to bring those accountable to justice.”
