On Friday, the Vice Chairman of the NRM Eastern Region, Captain Mike Mukula, embarked on a tour of registration update centers across the Busoga region, covering key areas such as Jinja, Iganga, and Bugweri. His visit aimed to assess the progress of the registration process and encourage participation among NRM members.
Accompanied by District NRM Chairpersons Hon. Igeme Samson Nabeta in Jinja and Hajji Walubi Abubakar in Iganga, Captain Mukula engaged with local party members to ensure their active involvement in the registration exercise. Expressing gratitude to those who had already participated, he emphasized the importance of every NRM member updating their registration details.
However, Captain Mukula highlighted concerns about the low turnout, urging individuals without national identification cards to update their information promptly. He also addressed issues of identity misuse for borrowing money, emphasizing the need for individuals to update their details to safeguard their NRM voting rights.
In preparation for the party primaries, Captain Mukula stressed that only registered NRM members would be eligible to participate. Those found ineligible due to registration discrepancies would be barred from the party’s electoral processes.
Furthermore, Captain Mukula extended an invitation to individuals interested in joining the NRM to register promptly under the supervision of local party officials. He warned against dual party membership, emphasizing that those found affiliated with other political parties would face consequences.
