In a rallying call for communal appreciation, former Human Rights Commission commissioner and current NRM chairman of Luuka district, Al-Hajji Hon. Meddie Mulumba, has urged Sub County chairpersons in Luuka to honor the legacy of Prof. Lubega by constructing roads around the district. Speaking at the annual general meeting of the Luuka Patriots Association (LUPA) held at the Hawaii International Hotel in Luuka, Hon. Meddie Mulumba emphasized the need to recognize Prof. Lubega’s contributions to the district while he is still alive.
Hon. Meddie Mulumba stressed that creating roads in each Sub County as a tribute to Prof. Lubega would not only acknowledge his impact on Luuka but also serve as a motivating force for him to continue working for the district.
As one of the founders of LUPA and its current legal adviser, Al-Hajji Meddie Mulumba shed light on the association’s formation, citing the actions of Bosco Nabonge in Luuka Power as a catalyst for the community coming together under LUPA.
Prof. Muhammad Lubega Kisambira, Chairman of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and Patron of LUPA, expressed gratitude to the NRM and President Museveni for fostering peace in Uganda. He encouraged LUPA members to collaborate with district security officials and engage them in their activities.
Simon Wakaze, Luuka LC V chairman, praised LUPA for its apolitical stance and its commitment to uniting the community. He lauded the executive committee for fostering unity and development in Luuka.
Ronald Bikumbi, Luuka district speaker, commended Prof. Lubega for his generosity in constructing staff quarters for health workers at Kiyunga Health Center IV through LUPA. This initiative is expected to enhance health services in the district.
The executive committee, led by Chairman Mwase Gideon Ronald, provided an overview of LUPA’s achievements, including the construction of health workers’ quarters, distribution of welding machines to youths, and the provision of banana suckers to farmers. These efforts signify LUPA’s commitment to fostering development in Luuka district.
