The province of Luuka, under the guidance of HRH Willington Nabwana, has embarked on a journey to fulfill its promise of development, following the recent restoration of the Luuka monarchy on 7th October 2023. Among the top priorities outlined by the monarchy was the development of Luuka and the unification of its people.
In an exclusive interview with our reporter, Umar Ntogona, Speaker of Luuka Lukiko, David Balondemu, revealed plans for a pivotal meeting scheduled for 8th February 2024, aptly named “Luuka We Want.”
Balondemu expressed the monarchy’s commitment to gathering the views of the people to guide their developmental agenda. “We want to gather the views of the people to tell us what they want us to do on the issue of development,” he emphasized.
Highlighting the unique approach of the Luuka monarchy, Balondemu underscored the importance of harnessing cultural energy for development. While acknowledging the efforts of politicians in advancing development, he emphasized the need for a holistic approach that leverages the cultural heritage of Luuka.
The meeting, slated to take place at Kiyunga Saaza Playground, aims to provide a platform for residents to contribute ideas and insights that will shape Luuka’s development trajectory. Balondemu urged all Luuka residents to attend and actively participate in the conference, emphasizing the significance of community engagement in driving progress.
Furthermore, Balondemu emphasized the importance of mindset change in the fight against poverty, urging residents to engage in both governmental and non-governmental programs aimed at empowerment and development.
“We have done this because the most developed communities are organized, so we also saw that this is one of the ways we can develop Luuka,” Balondemu remarked, highlighting the pivotal role of community organization in driving sustainable development.
