Residents of Luuka District have been urged to invest in educating their children to help advance the district’s development.
This call was made by the aspiring Woman MP for Luuka District, Annet Nabirye, during a funeral at Kamwirungu Village in Bulongo Sub-County, Luuka District, for the late Patricia Matama, daughter of Ben Mukisa.
Annet Nabirye emphasized that it is easier to find employment for educated children and encouraged parents to prioritize their education. She added that if the people of Luuka invest in their children’s education, she will work tirelessly to ensure that educated youth secure jobs if she is elected to Parliament in 2026.
“We need to educate our children because it is much easier to find a job for an educated child. Therefore, I want to take this opportunity to urge the people of Luuka to prioritize education as a key issue. As Annet, I have already helped two young men from this village, Kamwirungu, secure jobs—Yona and Melegurwa Moses. When I go to Parliament, I will ensure that many more from Luuka get jobs so that we can move the district forward,” said Annet Nabirye.
Hon. Kisa Stephen Bakubalwayo, MP for Luuka South Constituency, urged all aspiring candidates for the Woman MP seat in Luuka not to engage in conflict and to avoid contesting for the Luuka South MP seat, as he plans to step down in 2040. Kisa also conveyed a message from Luuka North MP Hon. Luke Kyobe Inhensiko, who thanked Mr. Ben Mukisa for prioritizing education, which helped his family and the entire village to develop.
Luuka Deputy RDC, Hassan Ssembalirwa, urged the officials of Luuka Chiefdom to change the culture and norms surrounding burials, particularly the practice of conducting burials late in the day, which inconveniences people traveling from distant areas. He also encouraged residents to participate in government programs.
