The Luuka district boss, Mr Simon Wakaze, has said the appointments of the new assistant resident district Commissioners (RDCs) and City Commissioners (RCCs) are even late. Mr Wakaze says many Patriotic individuals have been mobilising the community even when they are not recognised in the system.
“I thank President Museveni and his government for foreseeing issues. There have been people doing mobilisation, but they have been out of the system. It is just a human resource that the government has recruited them into the system,” Mr Wakaze said.
The office of the presidency recently appointed Assistant RDCs and RCCs to provide support and assistance in the office of the RDC in respective districts. Many have criticised the move, describing it as wastage of taxpayers’ money
But Mr Wakaze is optimistic that the critiques showcasing negative energy over the appointments have their own interests. He observes it as a surprise and an abrupt matter to Ugandans.
Wakaze applauds the government for making a wise decision to officially bring the brilliant young men on board whom he says who are instead going to save the taxpayers money from the corrupt officials.
“If a person is earning shs810,000 plus some allowances that leads them close shs1.5 million and he is going to rescue over 60m from the corrupt, then that remains a good person in the district,” he noted.
Wakaze calls for gazette of responsibilities and duties of the assistant Commissioners for the public to critically underscore the importance of the vital presidential representatives.
According to Hajji Shafiq Muzilansa, the Bugweri district chairperson, the government is both giving back and creating employments among to Busoga children.
“For a very long time, people have been blaming the leaders of Busoga for not considering positioning their own in Government, and when it is done, we still criticise. It is a common and bad practice in Busoga, today,” says Hajji Muzilansa.
Muzilansa states that the youthful individuals appointed are undergoing preparations to take over leadership when the elderly retire. He however appealed to Busoga community to appreciate thegovernment for assigning Busogachildren with importantduties.
“I salute minister Babalanda for effectively utilizing the opportunity in the presidency office and not paying attention to negative forces,” he said.
Among the appointees are Busoga Today’s Umar Ntogona, the Luuka based reporter which Mr James Mutyabule, a veteran media personality in Jinja is positive about the government’s consideration to journalists.
Also known as Fodama, Mutyabule says the media personnel are potential candidates to represent the present given their knowledge about current affairs and relevant research about their assignments. He highlights that the journalists are friendly to the public as their profession encompasses with masses following the community related content they disseminate.
“Government works hand in hand with journalists to create awareness by providing reliable information. They are most cases nonpartisan, and they are trained to work in all conditions,” said Mr Mutyabule.
Mutyabule believes that appointments serve as a source of employment to better the living standards of people.
“If I am given the opportunity to serve my country, I can’t object it because this is one of the most prestigious positions in the country, representing the president in a district,” he added.
The presidential representatives now await official commencement of duties to provide a back-up in the office of the RDC in respective districts.
