BUL FC was held to a 1-1 draw by Express FC in a tough Uganda Premier League match in Lugazi, as Sam Ssenyonjo’s late equalizer denied them all three points.

BUL took the lead in the dying moments of the first half, thanks to a powerful header from defender Walter Ochora. He rose high to meet a perfect corner kick from Jeromy Kirya, giving the hosts a 1-0 advantage.

The second half saw Express push hard for an equalizer, but BUL’s defense seemed solid. However, in the 88th minute, Express’ Ssenyonjo took advantage of a defensive mistake and calmly slotted the ball past goalkeeper Saidi Keni to level the scores at 1-1.

Although the match ended in a draw, BUL was left disappointed, as they failed to secure a much-needed win to end their inconsistent run. Express, on the other hand, extended their winless streak away from home, making it three consecutive draws on the road.

Despite the shared points, the league standings stayed the same. BUL remained in fourth place with 13 points, while Express stayed fifth, trailing on goal difference.

The game was generally uneventful, with few clear chances. Early on, Express’ Richard Basangwa missed a good opportunity to give his team the lead, shooting wide. BUL’s best chance came with Ochora’s goal, but the match lacked many exciting moments.

BUL will now look to bounce back when they visit Maroons on Friday, while Express will return home to face Mbarara City on Thursday in another tight contest.
