Kamuli: Aisha Nabukeera, the boss of Kamuli magistrate court, ruled that Suzan Namuganza, who cut off her husband’s penis, should spend 15 years in jail.

The embattled Namuganza pleaded guilty to committing the crime, which the court described as attempted murder. In her ruling on July 5, 2024, Nabukeera emphasized that the 15 years would be a valuable judgment against the pain inflicted on Moses Kawubanya, whose “government” was sabotaged.

“I sentence you to 15 years imprisonment because you caused permanent damage to Moses Kawubanya’s body,” Magistrate Nabukeera ruled.

A woman in Kamuli who chopped off her husband’s genitals has started realizing the consequences of her actions as she begins serving 15 years in jail.

In fact, Moses Kawubanya, whose penis Suzan Namuganza chopped off in a fit of fury, feels the sentence is lenient.

He will appeal Kamuli Chief Magistrate Aisha Nabukeera’s decision, he says.

Namuganza had already pleaded guilty the first day she appeared in court on Thursday, July 4, where she was remanded for a day as her judgment was pending.

Prosecution reveals that Namuganza, a 34-year-old, used a sharp object to cut off her husband’s genitals on June 10 and then fled from home. The shocking incident unfolded in Busana village, Nabirumba Ward in Nabwigulu Sub-county, Kamuli District, where the couple lived.

The convict was then traced by police experts and apprehended on Wednesday at her sister’s home in Buwaga, Bulange Sub-County, Namutumba District, where she had been hiding for three weeks.

However, in the judgment, Nabukeera underlined that the convict could appeal the sentence within a fortnight.

Kawubanya emphasizes that 15 years are not enough, describing it as a light sentence, and he will appeal against it in a higher court.

“I want her to be in jail for life for me to be content because she caused permanent body damage to me,” Kawubanya said.

Meanwhile, Kawubanya, who has been bedridden for three weeks at Mulago Hospital, Kampala, was discharged on Monday, July 1, 2024.

He is recovering, though experts say his sensitive private part is no longer functional.
