The territorial police of Kamuli are investigating the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder of a 41-year-old man.

The deceased has been identified as Amuza Kyakulaga, resident of Busana zone, Nabirumba parish, Nabwigulu Sub-county in Kamuli district.

It is alleged that on August 9, 2022 at around 7:30pm, two unidentified people riding a motorcycle with a flat tire came to the deceased’s home requesting for a pressure pump.

However, Kyakulaga ordered his daughter-in-law to get the pump from the house and remained outside with the men and suddenly a third assailant joined them and handcuffed him.

ASP Michael Kasadha says the assailants hoodwinked the deceased’s relatives that the deceased was being taken to police. Courtesy photo.

Busoga North Police Spokesperson ASP Michael Kasadha said the daughter-in-law was then informed by the trio that the deceased was being taken to Kamuli CPS.

On August 10, the deceased’s relatives mounted a search for him at various police stations in vain. However at around 6pm, slippers suspected to belong to the deceased were found dumped under a tree with blood stains.

The case of kidnap was immediately reported to the police who intensified the search that led them to a newly dug grave in a sugarcane plantation.

The deceased’s body was found tied in a white sack inside the grave together with a knife suspected to have been used in the gruesome murder.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had long-standing land wrangles with his family members and neighbours.
