Kaliro: A 23-year-old private security guard, David Musaba, was brutally murdered while on duty at Stabex Fuel Station in Kaliro Town Council on Sunday night.
According to preliminary investigations, Musaba reported for his night shift at 7 p.m. alongside his colleague, Ojara Daniel. He was last seen alive by Ojara at around 2 a.m.
Tragically, Musaba’s lifeless body was discovered in a pool of blood at the service bay around 4 a.m., with his rifle still beside him.
Security footage obtained by police revealed that the assailant, wearing a distinctive red cap and armed with a hoe, attacked Musaba at 3:36 a.m. The killer then escaped on a stolen motorcycle, registration number UGG 805V BAJAJ Boxer.
ASP Michael Kasadha, the Busoga North regional police spokesperson, confirmed the murder, emphasizing that efforts to bring the attacker to justice are underway.
“The police have launched an investigation into this murder, and we strongly condemn the killing,” Kasadha said.
However, concerns have been raised about the security measures in place at the fuel station and possible negligence by the second security guard.
Musaba’s body has been taken to Bumanya HC IV mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Police are urging anyone with information about the killer’s identity or whereabouts to come forward.
