    Kadaga and Namutamba lead the charge in promoting Busoga Tourism

    The first deputy prime minister and also the minister for East African Community Affairs Rebecca Kadaga and the determined Busoga Busoga Kingdom minister for tourism Owekitibwa Hellen Namutamba are unseated with promoting the tourism of the of the region.

    These embarked on launching tourist sites across all the chiefdoms that make up Busoga kingdom in what they termed “Busoga Tourism Trail.”

    Last weekend, the trail extended to Busiki chiefdom in Namutamba district where Nakyaka herbal forest site and Namagero cultural site were unveiled

    On Saturday, June 22, 2024, the trail will reach Bukono Chiefdom, where notable tourism sites, including Kikalu Rock, and a rich cultural heritage will be launched.

    Chief Mutyaba Godfrey Nkono, the Chief of Bukono Chiefdom and Busoga Kingdom Minister of Tourism, and Owek Namutamba Helen Oluga, briefed the media at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe, showcasing their readiness for the significant event.

    Bukono chiefdom Royal Chief Nkono Godfrey Mutyaba while addressing journalists on Thursday at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe, mentioned that Bukono is one of the interesting areas with traditional sites that would attract both local and foreign tourists.

    Chief Nkono believes that through tourism, his subjects will be transformed, and has asked interested individuals promoting tourism to attend the tourism event in Bukono chiefdom at IvukulaTown Council headquarters.

    According to Namutamba, Busoga is gifted with important tourist sites and if popularized, they would generate employment opportunities to Busoga citizens.

    “There are some sites we have never seen. They are traditional sites our grandparents used to perform several rituals from. We need to embark on visiting these areas to see those interesting sites for us also to tell our children,” Namutamba said.

    She called on the people to travel to Bukono and witness Kikalu Rock, which is believed to having waters that cure hydrocele in men.

    Busoga Talents and Musicians Network (BTM) Chairperson, Geofrey Muzaale, known by stage name Geobless, stressed the importance of musicians in promoting tourism.

    According to him, the artists play a crucial role in promoting tourism by composing music that showcases the beauty and culture of Busoga.
