In Luuka District, familiar faces are once again stepping forward ahead of the NRM primaries. One of them is Hon. Esther Mbayo, a name many locals already know well.
Mbayo, who has served as the Woman MP for Luuka and once held the post of Minister for the Presidency, says she’s ready to continue the work she started, and she’s asking her people to stand with her once more.
Speaking at the NRM Electoral Commission headquarters after being officially nominated, she thanked the people of Luuka for their support over the years. “From my first term up to now, your trust has brought us this far,” she said.
But she didn’t stop at appreciation. Mbayo reminded voters of what she’s been able to do in the last two terms. She mentioned things like bringing clean water to more villages, drilling boreholes with help from charity groups, and pushing to extend electricity to most parts of the district.
She also pointed to new hospitals built in different areas and her efforts in lobbying for new town councils like Kyanvuma, Busalamu, and Bulanga. A key road project the Walugogo-Bulopa-Kamuli road is expected to be worked on in the 2025/2026 budget, something she said she fought for.
Mbayo says these efforts weren’t just about politics, but about real needs in people’s lives. “I want to keep working with you,” she told Luuka residents. “Let’s build our district together in unity and for development.”
As the primaries approach, the people of Luuka now have a choice to make: to look back at what’s been done and decide who they trust to take things further.
