East Enders Sports Hub, a cricket hub based in Jinja City, is gearing up for the highly anticipated inaugural U18 Girls Invitation Inter-Hub Tournament set to take place at St. Joseph’s College Layibi in Gulu City from January 24th to 29th, 2024. The tournament will be streamed live, ensuring that cricket enthusiasts don’t miss a moment of the action

In collaboration with the Uganda Cricket Association, MCC, Cricket Without Boundaries, PODGAL, and Batball Uganda, this event serves as a crucial platform for young female cricketers to exhibit their skills and potentially pave their way to the international stage. The tournament holds added significance as it acts as a talent selection platform for the U19 Girls team, which will compete in the World Cup Qualifiers in Rwanda later this year.

The tournament’s fixture list unveils thrilling matchups, with East Enders set to face Soroti Cricket Academy and Northerns on the 25th of January respectively. These encounters will undoubtedly test the mettle of the East Enders squad as they strive for victory.

Head of Cricket Oyaga Sadam at East Enders expressed confidence in the team’s preparation, stating, “We are in good shape, and the girls will give their best while in Gulu. We have been working on many things that can give us a win in each game.” East Enders are poised to make a strong statement in the tournament, and their rigorous training regimen reflects the commitment to success.

Mutyagaba Grace, Development Officer North, emphasized the tournament’s importance, stating, “This is our gateway to selecting the U19 Girls team for the World Cup Qualifiers in Rwanda this August, and it empowers cricket hubs nationwide for sustained growth.”
