In the second encounter of their training camp stint in Sri Lanka, Cricket Cranes faced a challenging test against the Sri Lanka Development side, ending in a narrow defeat despite a spirited performance. The Sri Lankan team posted a formidable total of 169/6 in their allotted 20 overs.
Sri Lanka Development’s batsmen set a daunting target, while Uganda’s bowlers, led by Kenneth Waiswa and Henry Ssenyondo, fought hard to contain them. Waiswa was particularly impressive with the ball, claiming three wickets, while Ssenyondo maintained an outstanding economy rate of 4.5 runs per over.
In response, Uganda’s batting lineup showcased their resilience, with Waiswa leading the charge with an explosive half-century, scoring 50 runs off just 33 balls. He was well-supported by Simon Ssesazi and Roger Mukasa, who contributed 37 and 13 runs respectively.
However, despite their valiant efforts, Uganda fell agonizingly short of the target, finishing their innings with a commendable score of 165/5.
The loss in the second match against Sri Lanka Development serves as a learning experience for the Cricket Cranes as they continue their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Guyana.
