Cricket Cranes delivered a brilliant performance, beating Hong Kong, China by 76 runs at the Kowloon Cricket Club. The victory helped Uganda stay at the top of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Challenge League B standings and put them in a strong position.
Hong Kong, China won the toss and decided to bowl first. Uganda’s openers, Robinson Obuya and Shrideep Mangela, gave their team a solid start with a partnership of 52 runs. Although Obuya was out for 25, Raghav Dhawan kept the momentum going, scoring 52 runs. Alpesh Ramjani also played a key role, hitting a quick 68 runs. Captain Riazat Ali Shah added a useful 40 runs, helping Uganda to finish their innings with a total of 276 runs in 49.5 overs.
When Hong Kong, China started their chase, things quickly fell apart. Ramjani struck early, taking two wickets in his first over, and Hong Kong, China were soon struggling at 56/5. Despite a strong fight from their captain, Yasin Murtaza, who scored 50, and Zeeshan Ali, who made 51, they couldn’t get close to the target. Hong Kong, China was all out for 200 in 46.3 overs.
Ramjani was the hero of the match, taking 4 wickets for just 18 runs, and he was named Player of the Match. Juma Miyagi and Cosmas Kyewuta also took two wickets each, and Uganda’s bowlers put in a fantastic team effort.
The win takes Uganda to 16 points, four ahead of Hong Kong, China. Uganda will face Tanzania in their final game of the round, aiming to keep their unbeaten run going.
