Jinja: Busoga United FC, a community football club under the patronage of the Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula IV, has taken a significant step toward strengthening its team. The club has unveiled nine new players, bolstering its squad ahead of the new season.
The new signings were announced during a media event at Speke Courts Hotel in Jinja city on Monday, February 3, 2025. The event was attended by the club’s interim CEO, Daniel Gulere, and team manager, Moses Lubanda.
The nine new players joining Busoga United FC are: Ivan Bacho (goalkeeper) from URA FC, who signed a two-year contract; Alex Matataze from Iganga Young FC, on a one-year contract; Gerald Hamya from Jinja North FC, also on a one-year contract; and Franco Mugomba from Gaddafi FC, on a five-year contract.
Additionally, Amosi Kiirya from Bull FC, Dagalus Muganga, Anthony Mayanja, Dan Sewava, and Paul Kibande from Jinja North FC have joined the Big League team on six-month contracts.
According to Daniel Gulere, the club’s interim CEO, the new signings are part of a broader strategy to revamp the team. “We are ensuring that we recruit the best players so that Busoga United becomes the best community football club not only in Uganda but in the entire world,” Gulere said.
In addition to the new signings, the club has launched its membership registration. The registration process is open to all fans and supporters, with various categories available:

- Shs 50,000
- Shs 100,000
- Shs 250,000
- Shs 500,000
- Shs 1 million
- Shs 5 million (qualifies for presidential level benefits)
For Shs 5 million, members will qualify to be part of the presidential level or hold any position within it, in addition to receiving a club jersey and a season ticket.
Team manager Moses Lubanda emphasized the importance of collective efforts in promoting the club. “Busoga United is serving as a platform for young talents to flourish. We should, therefore, be united to grow and develop these talents,” Lubanda said.
The club also plans to extend its presence to grassroots levels through mini-launches, where Busoga United will face off against chiefdom clubs to strengthen its brand in local communities.
