BUL suffered a second consecutive defeat as SC Villa secured a narrow 1-0 victory at Fufa Technical Centre, Njeru, maintaining their unbeaten away record in the process.
Despite a spirited performance from BUL, it was SC Villa who found the breakthrough in the 40th minute when David Owori capitalized on a well-executed team move, slotting home a precise finish off Ronald Ssekiganda’s assist.
However, Villa’s momentum was hindered as they were reduced to ten men in the 58th minute, with Gavin Kizito receiving a red card for a handball on the goal line to deny BUL a clear scoring opportunity.
BUL had a chance to equalize from the penalty spot, but their hopes were dashed as Ibrahim Kazindula’s effort was saved by SC Villa’s standout goalkeeper, Jean Brady Wokorach, who earned the Man of the Match accolade for his heroics.
Despite relentless pressure from BUL in the latter stages of the game, Villa held firm to secure all three points, climbing to 4th place in the league standings with 36 points.
Meanwhile, BUL’s consecutive losses have seen them drop to second place, trailing leaders Kitara by seven points, albeit having played two more games than SC Villa.
Both teams will resume their campaigns after the international break, with SC Villa hosting Mbarara City and BUL facing a tough away fixture against Kitara in a top-of-the-table clash on March 29th.
