BUL FC had to fight hard to come from a goal down and secure a 1-1 draw against NEC FC at Lugazi Stadium on Wednesday. The match, which was a part of the Uganda Premier League, was a hard-fought battle that saw NEC FC’s hopes of extending their lead at the top of the table fade away.

The game started with a bang as NEC FC took the lead in the 37th minute. Striker Cromwell Rwothomio scored a brilliant header from a free kick delivered by Gaddafi Wahab.

However, BUL FC didn’t give up. They came back strong in the second half, and in the 70th minute, fullback Nickolas Mwere made sure BUL FC got a point. Mwere was in the right place at the right time when he pounced on a corner kick from Ibrahim Mugulusi, which the NEC defense failed to clear. Mwere calmly slotted the ball into the net, equalizing for BUL FC and ensuring the game ended 1-1.

The draw was a setback for NEC FC, who now have 27 points, just two ahead of second-placed Vipers SC, who have a game in hand. Although NEC FC has been strong at home, winning all six of their home matches, they have struggled away from home, with only two wins in their six away games. BUL FC, on the other hand, have been finding it difficult to secure wins at their new home in Lugazi Stadium. Since moving there at the start of the season, they have only won once at the facility, which makes the point earned from this game a valuable one.

For BUL FC, this draw keeps them in 10th place with 16 points from 13 games. While it’s not a win, they can take pride in their resilience and their ability to fight back and earn a point against the league leaders.
