BUL FC’s tough start to the Uganda Premier League continued with a 2-0 loss to Mbarara City at Lugazi Stadium. This defeat leaves BUL without a win after four matches, adding pressure on the team that finished as runners-up last season.

Mbarara City, guided by Seiri Arigumaho’s two goals, secured their first win of the season. Arigumaho’s first goal came in the 39th minute after BUL’s defense failed to clear the ball, allowing him to turn and slot it past goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa. His second goal came in the 60th minute when a cross from the left went untouched by the defense, and he calmly finished, sealing Mbarara City’s victory.

For BUL, this defeat adds to a poor start that has seen them manage only two points from four games. Despite their strong finish last season, BUL has struggled to find their rhythm this campaign. Defensive errors have been a recurring issue, and the team has failed to convert opportunities into goals. Draws against KCCA and Police in their opening two games gave some hope, but back-to-back losses to SC Villa and now Mbarara City have raised concerns.

Coach Abbey Bogere Kikomeko is now facing the task of lifting his team out of this slump. The international break comes at a crucial time, offering a chance to regroup and find solutions to their defensive problems. After the break, BUL will face URA, and they’ll be desperate to secure their first win of the season.

Mbarara City, on the other hand, will look to build on this result as they prepare to host Kitara.
