BUL FC’s struggles continued as they suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss to UPDF FC at the Lugazi Stadium on Wednesday. Despite creating several chances, BUL failed to capitalize on their opportunities, while the visitors took full advantage of their clinical finishing.
From the outset, it was clear that UPDF FC were determined to secure their first away win of the season. They pressed high, showing energy and commitment. The breakthrough came in the 26th minute when Christopher Kawagu made a fantastic run down the right wing. After exchanging passes with his teammates, he got past the BUL defenders and fired a powerful shot past goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa from a tight angle to give UPDF the lead.
BUL FC, on the other hand, struggled to break down UPDF’s solid defense. They had their chances, but once again, they couldn’t find the back of the net. Shots were either off target or well saved by UPDF’s keeper, and their lack of precision in front of goal proved costly.
As the game went on, UPDF FC continued to press for a second goal. In the 87th minute, a well-executed short corner routine between Shakib Mayanja and Joseph Jjanjali set up substitute Brian Kalumba, who slotted the ball home to seal the win for UPDF.
This defeat extends BUL’s winless run to four matches, leaving them in ninth place with 14 points. UPDF FC, with a solid 2-0 victory, climbed to sixth with 16 points, giving them a much-needed boost in the league standings.
For BUL, the loss highlighted their ongoing struggles in front of goal, and they will need to regroup quickly if they are to get back on track. They will face a tough test next, traveling to St. Mary’s Kitende to take on Vipers on December 14th. Meanwhile, UPDF FC will host Mbale Heroes at their home ground, Bombo Barracks, on December 11th.
