BUL FC fail to capitalize as 10-man Police FC hold firm in opener

BUL FC endured a frustrating start to their league campaign as they were held to a 0-0 draw by newly-promoted Police FC at Kavumba. Despite Police going down to ten men in the 35th minute after Gerald Ogweti’s reckless challenge on Walter Ochora, BUL couldn’t find the winning goal.

BUL had high hopes coming into the match, expecting to showcase their attacking strength after winning the Pilsner Super Eight. However, they found Police’s defense difficult to break down, even with a one-man advantage for most of the game.

Chances were few and far between for BUL, with the first half offering little in terms of clear opportunities. Police even threatened early on when Rayn Kizito’s quick free-kick forced BUL goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa into action.

BUL tried to ramp up their attack in the second half, with Denis Kalanzi’s header and a long-range effort from Ramz Kawooya coming close. Lawrence Tezikya also had a chance, but Police’s defense held firm, with their goalkeeper Mutakubwa making several crucial saves.

Despite dominating possession and pushing hard for a goal, BUL lacked the sharpness needed in front of goal, leaving them disappointed by the final whistle. Police’s defensive discipline and Mutakubwa’s performance in goal made it difficult for BUL to capitalize on their advantage.

For BUL, this draw feels like a missed opportunity to start the season on a winning note. They will need to sharpen their attack before their next game against KCCA at Lugazi, where they’ll hope to secure their first three points of the campaign.
