In a crucial encounter at the FUFA technical centre, Abbey Kikomeko’s BUL faced off against Busoga United, aiming to solidify their position at the top of the table with a significant points gap. The Eastern Giants entered the match with 32 points from thirteen matches, six points ahead of Kitara FC in second place.

The game kicked off with BUL showcasing excellent ball movement and early pressure, with Alex Kitata coming close to opening the scoring in the fourth minute. However, the forward narrowly missed connecting with Ibrahim Mugulusi’s corner.

Nicholas Mwere attempted a long-range effort for BUL, striking the post with a powerful shot. Busoga United’s first threat came with Mugwa Bashamu’s delivery to Jeremy Matata, but goalkeeper Tom Ikara made a crucial save.

BUL’s dominance paid off in the 30th minute when Kitata headed in a corner delivered by Mugulusi. Despite Busoga United’s efforts to level the score before halftime, the Eastern Giants maintained a 1-0 lead.

The second half saw Busoga United starting brightly, causing problems for BUL. Coach Abbey Kikomeko made strategic changes, bringing on Lawrence Tezikya for Mugulusi, but Busoga United continued to press for an equalizer.

Hussein Ssajjabbi and Joel Madondo were introduced, but BUL’s defense held firm. Busoga United had several close calls, including Emmanuel Ajo’s shot that narrowly missed the target in the 88th minute.

Despite Busoga United’s persistent efforts, BUL secured the hard-fought victory, extending their lead at the top of the table.
