    Bukhooli-Namayingo are 2022 Busoga Masaza cup champions

    Bukhooli-Nawanyago defeated two-time defending champions Kigulu 1-0 to emerge winners of this year’s Busoga Masaza cup tournament.

    In a thrilling final played on Saturday, September 17, at Bugembe stadium and were presided over by the Kyabazinga of Busoga William Gabula Nadiope IV, the eventual winners Bukhooli-Namayingo netted only one goal to dash Kigulu FC’s chances of winning the coveted trophy for a third consecutive time.

    His Majesty Nadiope IV was welcomed by Busoga Kingdom’s Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muvawala who was accompanied by his second deputy Owek. Osman Noor Ahmed.

    The monarch walked majestically around the football pitch as he waved to spectators who also waved back to him.

    Sponsors of the 2022 Masaza cup included MTN and Mayuge Sugar Industries Limited (MSIL).

    After the final match, the Kyabazinga handed over a trophy to Bukhooli- Namayingo team captain amid ululations.

    Kasimba Abubakar from Kigulu was awarded best goal keeper of the tournament while Luuka’s David Oketcho was voted Most Valuable Player Luuka- MVP and Rajab Kasango from Bugabula as top scorer.
