On October 4th, Buganda Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Charles Peter Mayiga, paid a courtesy call to the Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV. This visit marks the start of Mayiga’s three-day tour in Busoga, aimed at engaging with various youth leaders and members of the Nkoba za Mbogo associations, as well as Baganda living in Busoga.
Upon his arrival at the Source of the Nile Bridge, Mayiga was warmly received by a group of enthusiastic Baganda youth. He briefly addressed them before proceeding to the Kyabazinga’s Igenge Palace, where the main event of the day was scheduled to take place.
At midday, Mayiga, accompanied by his delegation, reached the Igenge Palace and was greeted by Busoga Kingdom’s Prime Minister, Dr. Joseph Muvawala. Alongside Dr. Muvawala were other key figures from the Busoga Kingdom, including Owek Yudaya Nabirye, the Minister for Kyabazinga Affairs, James Mukembo, the Youth Minister, Nasabu Nantale, the Minister of State for Education, and Godfrey Ssajjabi, the Kingdom’s Permanent Secretary. David Agha Isabirye, the Minister of State for Information and Member of Parliament for Jinja Northern Division, was also in attendance.
Inside the palace, Mayiga and his team from Buganda were received by Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV. Following formal introductions, the Kyabazinga and Mayiga engaged in a private meeting within one of the palace boardrooms. Their discussion was held behind closed doors, and afterward, they shared a meal together.
After lunch, both leaders delivered their remarks, concluding the day’s events on a note of mutual respect and camaraderie.
