A horrifying accident has claimed the life of Budaka Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Hajjat Nusula Nabukalu.

She died in a tragic road accident at Musita in Baitambogwe Subcounty, Mayuge District, along the Jinja-Iganga highway on Sunday evening, around 5 p.m.

The RDC reportedly lost her life when her white Toyota Double Cabin, UG 4803C, which was heading towards Jinja, collided with a trailer, KDH 025V.

“One of us has perished in a road accident. My heart is too heavy… A friend, a genuine person who never pretended or waged war. RIP Commissioner Nusula Nabukalu,” Kayunga Deputy RDC Trevor Solomon Baleke posted.

Hajjat Nabukalu passed away shortly after attending an event in Bulamagi, Iganga District.

Her driver, who sustained severe injuries, was rushed to Iganga Hospital, amidst difficulties in getting an ambulance to transport the RDC’s lifeless body from the scene.

The deceased was later transferred to the Jinja Referral Hospital mortuary by the vehicle of a yet-to-be-identified colleague after lying for nearly an hour at the scene of the accident.

Via her “X” handle, Presidency Minister Milly Babirye Babalanda condoled the demise of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) cadre, describing her as a dedicated servant.

“I announce the heartbreaking news of the death of Deputy RDC Budaka, Hajjati Nabukalu Nusula, who passed away in an accident this evening at Musita. So painful at this time. She will be dearly missed for her dedicated services to the motherland. May her soul rest in eternal peace, and condolences to the family, friends, and the Presidency at large!” Babalanda tweeted on X (formerly Twitter).

Presidential Deputy Press Secretary Hajji Faruk Kirunda praised her for her excellent service.

“The Deputy RDC Budaka, Hajjati Nabukalu Nusula, who died in an accident in Musita this evening, was a tested, trusted, focused, and straightforward cadre of the NRM. She was appointed because of her unshakable zeal for the party and nation. She was well-known at all levels, right from when I was very young, hearing about her when she served in the local council structures, where she served without blemish. She has died in the line of duty and deserves to be celebrated and emulated in her ways. Innalillahi wainalilei rajoon!” he tweeted.

By press time, the police had not yet commented on the tragedy, but details of this horrific incident will be published soon.
