Lorna Anyait led Uganda’s Baby Victoria Pearls to an easy win against Kenya in the U-19 World Cup Qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda. Her incredible bowling performance, taking 7 wickets for just 6 runs in 4 overs, helped Uganda secure their second victory in the tournament.

Kenya chose to bat first after winning the toss, but their plan quickly fell apart. Uganda’s bowlers, especially Irene Mutonyi and Immaculate Nandera, kept Kenya’s batters under pressure from the start. However, it was Lorna Anyait who stole the show, as she completely dismantled Kenya’s batting lineup. They were bowled out for only 37 runs in just under 14 overs.

In reply, Uganda had a small target of 38 to chase. Despite losing their captain Jimia Mohammed early for just 5 runs, Uganda was never in trouble. Asumin Akurut and Patricia Fiona Timong played with confidence, scoring 13 and 14 runs, respectively, to lead Uganda to victory in just 9 overs.

The win puts Uganda in a strong position in Group A, with 4 points from 2 games. They share the top spot with Rwanda, who also won their matches, but Uganda has a better net run rate. Both Uganda and Rwanda have already secured their places in the semifinals and will battle in the final Group A fixture on Wednesday to determine who finished on top.
