Police in Busoga East have apprehended two suspects, Enoch Ngwire, a 25-year-old resident of Kinyabwina village, and Ronald, a traditional healer from Nabitu village in Buwaaya sub-county, in connection to the brutal murder of 82-year-old businessman Alex Owori in Mayuge. The elderly victim, a sugarcane dealer and farmer, was allegedly killed on his way to his garden after recently selling his sugarcane plantation and pocketing shs.8 million.
According to reports, Owori left home for gardening on Friday at around 8 am and did not return, prompting family members to search for him. Unfortunately, his lifeless body was found in a pool of blood with multiple cuts on it, approximately 1 km away from his residence.
Investigations suggest that the assailants targeted Owori’s substantial cash, as he was known to carry money with him. The police believe that the motive behind the murder was to obtain the money from the recent sale of his sugarcane plantation.
Enoch Ngwire was apprehended while allegedly heading to a witch doctor, possibly with the intention of obstructing the investigation. The police are currently on the hunt for three other individuals believed to be connected to the crime; however, their identities have been withheld for investigative purposes.
The community, shocked by the tragic loss of the respected businessman, awaits further developments in the investigation as the police work to bring justice to the perpetrators.
