Jinja: In a double tragedy in Jinja city, police are investigating the circumstances under which one Rogers, a fisherman at Kisima 2 island was reportedly killed by the yet to be identified individuals on May 3, 2024.
According to allegations, the fisherman allegedly stole over four fish meant for Irene Akurut, 35, commonly known as Mama Angel, a resident of Kisiima 2 island in Jinja city. Mama Angel informed Moses Katasa and Wilber Magero 29, who reportedly beat up Rogers to death.
It is said that after ending his life, the suspects then got the lifeless body of Rogers and hanged it in his house to falsely give an impression that he committed suicide. They locked up the house and exited through the window.
The residents notified police that visited and critically examined the scene of crime scene of crime. SP James Mubi, the Kiira region police publicist, said observations were recorded to help in the investigations.
“The deceased’s feet touched the ground. Both hands were straight, the tongue was not out, and eyes not protruded,” said Mubi.
Three suspects were arrested on Friday and detained at Jinja central police station (CPS) on charges of murder while the deceased’s body was conveyed to Jinja main hospital mortuary pending postmortem.
Similarly, residents of Buwekula in Jinja city norther division are still shocked after their 20-year-old colleague, Milly Mutesi, hanged self using a mosquito net in the landlady’s bathroom.
The landlady identified as Flavia Namuyomba reported the matter to Bugembe Police station. It’s reported that Mutesi, before meeting her fate, has been having unresolved love affair misunderstandings, accusing her boyfriend of having multiple sexual partners, something she couldn’t purportedly tolerate.
Police cautioned members of the public against taking the law in their hands, which Mubi said they shall not tolerate such acts of lawlessness.
“People should desist from taking their own lives because it’s against the teachings of Jesus Christ in the Bible and Prophet Muhammad in the Quran,” Mubi noted, adding that prosecution guided investigations are ongoing on both case files.
