SPORT: Ahead of a busy year that kicks off with the T20 World Cup qualifiers in South Africa and as a way of making players get committed to what they do daily, Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) has rewarded 12 players with playing contracts.

Unlike the men, the ladies are always distracted just after they get done with their education and they always choose the way that pays a living to make them survive.

This could be another way of improving the sport in the country as it makes the players be sure of their monthly finances and can give 100% playing time to the team.

This is the first time UCA is rewarding the girls with contracts and will guarantee them not only monthly pay but also cover medical care.

The association believes it will be a motivation to the ladies to scale to greater heights especially later this year as they travel to South Africa for the World Cup Qualifiers.

The contracts are into two categories, A and B and will be reviewed annually which will see the players practice on a fulltime program with the respective coaches.

    Category A
    1. Consy Aweko, 2. Kevin Awino, 3. Janet Mbabazi, 4. Evelyn Anyipo, 5. Immaculate Nakisuyi, 6. Rita Musamali, 7. Sarah Akiteng.
    Category B
    1. Stephanie Nampiina, 2. Irene Alumo, 3. Phiona Khulume, 4. Patricia Malemikia, 5. Gloria Obukor.
