The Former Member of Parliament for Rwampara County, Hon. Charles Ngabirano, has urged Ugandans to support charitable organizations in a bid to curb the vicious cycle of poverty.

Ngabirano was speaking during the launch of Chicago Foundation at Theatre Labonita in Kampala on Wednesday.

He said government can’t single-handedly help all Ugandans eradicate poverty without engaging charitable organisations.

“Our government cannot sustain everybody and as a result, we must come and fill these gaps,” the former legislator said.

Mr. Ngabirano slammed what he termed as excessive corruption in governmental offices, saying that it is the reason many  Ugandans are hesitant to help the needy.

“And filling the gaps is not about what you have. Filling the gap is just convincing your mindset that you can do something,” he added.

Chicago Foundation has been formed on the strands of empowering the youth in a bid to break the viscous cycle of poverty and aid in education of the unprivileged.

The Founder of this organization, Ms. Chicago elaborated the intentions adding that they have beliefs in changing the lives of the needy people .

“We came up with Chicago Foundation to focus on the youths. Those who are lacking school fees at the university and secondary levels. We believe we can change the lives if we cooperate and contribute something,” said Ms. Jovita Chicago.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Charity Organization, Mr. Orina Duke, also added that Chicago Foundation is committed to ensuring accountability.

He said Chicago is committed to ensuring that all children in Uganda have access to education.
